Don’t Quit, Joaquin

Posted by RoJo On October - 30 - 2008

So, it’s been a very busy week, with much going on. We’re within one week of election day, yayaz~! I wanted to start with the breaking news out of Hollywood, though…

- Joaquin Phoenix, brother of the late River Phoenix (Tomorrow marks the 25th anniversary of his death, btw), has starred in such films as ‘Walk The Line’ and ‘Signs’. Best known as the dude who’s always better than everyone else in the movie, Joaquin now says he’s quitting the film industry. He’s done with acting, his friends claim. Apparently, he wants to work on a music career, adding onto the Grammy he won for ‘Walk The Line’ several years ago. Joaquin, I say – Don’t go! Who’s going to steal the spotlight in shitty movies without you in them? Nobody, that’s who. Now, shitty movies won’t have anything non-shitty in them. Geeze. Before this year, I’d say Mark Wahlberg could fill the role… but after ‘The Happening’, it just wouldn’t be true.

- So, for the first time ever that I can remember, a major television event happened last night. No, I’m not talking about the Phillies winning a suspended World Series game (Predicion fail on my part, btw). I’m talking about three major networks all airing the same television pilot simultaneously, and even more surprising, commercial free! Obviously, I’m talking about the debut of “The Obama Show.” Sure to garner a vast audience, ‘The Obama Show’ was aired on seven channels overall, including NBC, ABC, Fox, and TV One. Barack Obama made his final mainstream pitch to America, giving specific details on his policies he’d invoke upon becoming President. He also told several stories about mainstream and middle-class America, and the struggles being gone through right now. It was a mission to get across his ideas and the problems with the country, and he succeeded, I believe. We’ll see if it translates into a victory on Tuesday.

- We had a repeat of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ this week, but we have all new ‘The Office’ tonight. It’s halloween episode time, and these are usually great. I expect no less than great tonight. Fallout from the end of the Dwight-Angela trist, it seems, is the main plotline I’m following on this episode.

- More goodness in the reality show world. The campaign to get Benji Bronk on MTV’s ‘Paris Hilton’s BFF’ failed (even though he was leading vote getter), so who knows how this’ll turn out… Vote for Rhett Titus for ‘Daisy of Love’ here: http://daisyoflovecasting.com/people/RhettdaThreat

- Watched ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ last night. Second crap fight in a row. Yes, I didn’t give detailed thoughts, but Junie vs Delgado was horrible as well. Some disagree, apparently, but I don’t know what they were watching. Oh well, it appears next week will not only see a great fight, a potential upcoming superstar, but also more Junie Browning greatness. Next week will be another must-see TUF8, I’m hoping.

- I’ve decided to cancel my subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio. I’ve had the service since October of 2006, but the time has come to rid myself of it. Recently, I had only listened to the service while driving, and I don’t drive as much as I had the last two years, so it’s less important to have. I can still listen to Howard Stern through various ways, so I won’t be missing too much. I’ll have to rely on CDs now for whatever trips I do take. I enjoy Sirius, I just don’t need it much, but I highly recommend it to those who take long road trips. Stern, ESPN and ESPNews, CNN, Hits 1, and AltNation are sanity-savers on long trips.

- Speaking of radio, I have been listening to a ton of ESPN Radio lately. I always get caught up in ESPN Radio in phases. I’ve listened to probably too much Colin Cowherd lately, but more than enough Jason Smith. Jason Smith makes me miss Todd Wright, you know what I’m sayin’~! Of course you do. I know many of you in the bigger cities probably have ESPN Radio, although you may have a local schedule with local hosts, as opposed to getting the complete national lineup. In Northeast Indiana, we get the national lineup, sans some local sports coverage. I am thankful for this, because I hate local sports shows. Anyway, for anyone interested in sports radio, or to find out what ESPN has been up to lately if you’ve been busy, I present…

Weekday Blues

Posted by Russ Davis On October - 23 - 2008

So I’ve now entered my third week as an employee of Wal-Mart and so far, it remains a decent job, with no real downside nor real upside. The good thing is that I’ve gotten to the point where the other people are starting to know who I am, and me the same with them. So I’m able to talk and relate to them a little better than from the beginning. Almost everyone that works there is pretty nice, or cordial. There are exceptions. There is one girl, who is my supervisor, and probably my age. She’s cute but kind of a cold person to me. And that kind of makes her hot. But not hot enough to overlook it. Anyway I have to wonder if some people are pretty distant because so many people come and go in that job. The ones that start to last become easier to get along with since they’ve been around to work up a relationship. If any of that makes sense.

Finally got around to watching last week’s The Office and I thought it was a superb episode. It was a lot funnier than “Business Ethics” and I have a feeling it’ll be one of the ones I watch on DVD several times. Dinkin’ flicker.

I’m hoping to expand my Criterion Collection soon. I didn’t realize some of the quality films that the CC has put out. If they weren’t so expensive, I’d be all about it. But alas, I have to pick and choose.

In my final thought for this installment, I want to recommend a book for you to read if you haven’t. It’s Malcolm X’s autobiography, written by Alex Haley through interviews with Malcolm X. I had to read it for Religious Studies and as someone that didn’t know a lot about X before, this is a compelling book. It’s been one of the top selling books of the last 40 years for good reason.

MMA, GnR, MLB and such!

Posted by RoJo On October - 22 - 2008

- Guns N’ Roses has a release date for Chinese Democracy! After 17 years of waiting, GnR’s new album will be sold through Best Buy beginning on Sunday, November 23.

- Russ & I will be back later this week to continue with the topic of adult entertainment, as we’ll take a look at more mainstream stars, stars of the past, trends, etc. If you missed our first entry, relating to current “reality” adult stars, you can check it out HERE.

- The World Series starts tonight. I’ll be viewing that and The Ultimate Fighter tonight. Junie Browning fights on TUF8 tonight, yayaz~! We also get more pranks, a black-belt callout, and more on the Frank Mir heel turn. Should be a good night of television. As for the Series, I predict Rays in 6, with the Phillies winning tonight. Boom. I’m horrible at predictions, though, so maybe you all should bet on the Phils to take it.

EliteXC Folds.

Posted by RoJo On October - 20 - 2008

- According to a report coming from a top MMA writer, as well as a fighter RussNRoJo.com has spoken with tonight, it appears that ProElite was unable to sell EliteXC to CBS/Showtime, and the promotion will be folding immediately. The November 8 show, scheduled as a Night of Champions event, has been canceled according to a fighter that has fought with the promotion. While not officially announced publicly, fighters have been told the event is not happening. It appears fighters will be let out of contracts soon. Top star Kimbo Slice may have a shelf life on smaller groups shows, but won’t be heading to UFC anytime soon, if ever. Nor will female stars Cris Cyborg or Gina Carano, as UFC has no interest in a female division.

The Seth Petruzelli win over Kimbo, as well as fallout of an interview he gave following the fight alleging possible possible payments to keep the fight a certain style, were the nail in the coffin of EliteXC.

Things You Missed

Posted by RoJo On October - 20 - 2008

The end of the world is nearing. Here’s just a few things from this weekend you may have missed, but should check out:

- Rapper Lil’ Wayne was named MVP and Lyricist of the Year by BET.

- LSU vs South Carolina this weekend, and there be some UPSET folk in the SEC. This video clearly shows an LSU Linebacker wearing a ref uniform…or is it. Watch the video, imagine what could be going through that referee’s mind.

- I’ve been absolutely loving these new Volkswagen Routan commercials featuring Brooke Shields. I suggest you catch them on YouTube, as well as this Routan Mockumentary that I’ve embedded.

- Sarah Palin visited SNL, and what an episode it was. Featuring Josh Brolin, Sarah Palin, Mark Wahlberg, and the return of MacGruber, this weekend’s SNL was the best overall episode in years.

- Minnesota Republican and US Representative Michele Bachmann made an appearance on MSNBC’s “Hardball” on Friday, and her comments have been causing commotion all over the country since then. Her Congressional race has also gotten much closer in the last weekend, so sucks to be her. Here is the transcript of her comments.

R.n.R. Rate Porn

Posted by Russ Davis On October - 20 - 2008

As a nearly 23-year-old red-blooded American male, I feel obligated at this point to admit that I watch porn. Pr0n, as the kids call it. It happens. I’m single. I’m not ashamed of it, really. So I figured for my first really major blog on the RnR, I’d give the “State of Porn” as I see it. RoJo will help out with his own thoughts on the material brought up by myself, and we’ll give everyone reading the opportunity to chime in with comments on the bottom of this page. These are my current tastes in porn, with thoughts from myself and RoJo (RoJo’s in italics). Quick note for reference, this is the best of the “reality porn” genre, whatever that means. It’s kind of like who’s in the “top 5″ so to speak but in no real order:

Bree Olson: Found out about her back at the beginning of 2007 and she’s a local girl (from the Fort Wayne metro area). Blond with a lot of passion for the business, watching her 2006-early 2007 work, you can tell she really likes what she does. That said, at like 22 years old, she’s kind of already peaked for me. She’s crossed from that “cute” phase to “slutty”. But I’ll admit, she does know a way to lighten the mood. Lines such as “oh yeah, it’s gravity forcing me on it” or “How am I going to be able to walk tomorrow?” are classic Bree.

RoJo: I found out about her in mid-2006, right when she started to break into more noticeable adult entertainment streams. She was interesting, to say the least. She was really into her scenes, and cute enough to the point to drive me to find out more information about her. A quick wikipedia search, and her hometown, near Fort Wayne, Indiana, was found. I then found that she was actually a student at a local college, and I was hooked. I’m no stalker by any means, and that is pretty much more information than I had sought, but it was certainly interesting to see a local girl doing such crazy things. She has quickly become quite popular, winning the AVN award for best new starlet, an award Jenna Jameson once earned. Yes, earned. I had the chance to meet her once, and she’s a delight in person. I suggest you find some of her gonzo stuff from 2005-2007, before she, as Russ mentioned, turned slutty and uninteresting. The cute girl next door vibe ends swiftly, as a guy can only pretend for so long.

- Sativa Rose: RoJo doesn’t get why I like her, and I’ll admit she’s another one that has regressed in looks. But she was probably, IMO, the first “hot” girl in porn that I really liked the look of.

RoJo: He’s right, I don’t get why Russ likes her that much. She’s not hot, she’s borderline sexy, which is a difference. The only scene I liked her in was a scene with Katie Morgan (awesome), in which she plays Morgan’s cleaning lady who gets out of line. Nice.

- Emma Starr: Easily one of the most attractive “MILFs” out there in the business right now, Mrs. Starr (as she’s usually called) may be typecasted into the role of “sexy teacher/sexy mom”. However, it’s a typecast I can’t get enough of.

RoJo: First saw her in a group scene, My First Sex Teacher, with two guys and Harmony Rose. Harmony and Mrs. Starr, two of my favorites ever since this scene, can be found frequently on Naughty America. They’re great in “hot friend/hot teacher” type stuff.

- Tory Lane: Another one that has regressed, but Tory Lane’s passion and commitment to the business has to be admired. Find her 2005 work on sites like My Sister’s Hot Friend, and you’ll find the Al Pacino of reality porn. Over the top performances and ability to command your attention one way or another. Tory Lane hasn’t been the same since the start of 2007 for me. But her “golden age” is something worth going out of your way to see.

RoJo: It’s amazing how quick some can fall. This girl had all the signs, though, of being a mess. Started to gain weight (which at least means she’s probably not on coke), ugly tattoo on her lower back (unfortunately the norm), and didn’t hold anything back in her scenes. Girls who never hold back tend to become uninteresting. Look at the most famous woman in porn, Jenna Jameson. She held back some stuff in every scene. Many of her scenes were different, she would change it up a bit, but not give everything away. It helped. Jessica Drake is the same way nowadays.

- Brooke Banner: Ah, Ms. Cokehead herself makes an appearance on my list. This is mostly for her turn in her first appearance on My Sister’s Hot Friend, but she’s worth noting. Brooke has gone from decent to cute to kinda scary all in the course of just a couple of years. Even though it often appears she’s probably high out of her mind during her scenes, and her last Naughty America scene has been ripped to shreds by users in feedback, she has kinda filled the void as an “ice princess”, one with attitude and sass. She needs to lay off the blow though…um…yeah.

RoJo: Definite drug fiend, which is unfortunate. As Russ mentioned, she caught my eye in a scene for My Sister’s Hot Friend with Will Powers, but has never quite been the same since then. Peaked early, but she’s not totally forgotten.

- Jaclyn Case: A girl that has risen fairly high on my list is Jaclyn. Super cute and athletic, she’s probably at her best in three way dances rather than one on one. She plays the second fiddle character well, and is cute enough to steal the show in most of her scenes. Though I recently saw where she has changed her look, and not for the better.

RoJo: Okay, I just discovered this girl on the Brazzers network a few months ago, and as of now, she’s my favorite girl in the industry. She’s toned, athletic, cute, and has a look like she could be in your Econ 102 class. I haven’t seen much of her, but what I have seen, I like… very much.

- Eve Laurence: What happened to his girl? 2006 was her year, and she was really cute during it. But she’s kinda tried to make herself into this wannabe Heidi Montag (see: The Hills) and it’s caused her to slip in my book.

RoJo: Cocaine helps girls lose weight, and this is no exception. This girl lost at least thirty poinds since her peak, and went from a brunette to a blond. She had the perfect girl next door look, and now is just “another girl”.

- Ashlynn Brooke: Ashlynn is rated really high by most watchers because she’s cute, and sexy, and petite. I don’t disagree. She has all of those qualities that make you like to watch a girl like her do what she does. That said, I’ve always had the feeling that in a year or two, she’ll be pretty much a shell of herself now. You can see it coming, or I can at least. She’s got a little pudgy body for her size, and isn’t like a girl like Bree who’s passion is so evident you can overlook it.

RoJo: To me, Ashlynn is the 2008 Bree Olson, except she’s not as enthusiastic in most scenes, but a similar look and she is okay with her body image. She’s been the lead in some bigger budget movies lately, and has done quite well.

- The Love Twins: The identical sirens from Ohio, Lacey & Lyndsey represent most guys’ ultimate fantasy. With their tans, and long brown hair, they fit my bill. Plus there is something kind of erotic about the fact that they make sure to NEVER engage in incest by even kissing. It’s like the great mistake that you want to see slipped in, but just doesn’t.

- Daisy Marie: Daisy has caught my eye as someone to watch from time to time because she makes it fun. She likes to have a good time, and she likes to play around with the camera.

- Nikki Benz: Not really high on my list but she has turned in some quality performances in her time.

RoJo: Everywhere I turn, it seems Nikki Benz is there. Gonzo, big budget, POV, everywhere. She’s a mainstay in the Digital Sin world, and is a pretty good hand. She’ll get the job done, but she’s no lead. She’s best in threesomes.

- Michelle B: Michelle has probably the best body of any girl I’ve seen during my time following the business. Her British accent and ability to do whatever makes her worthwhile to watch.

RoJo: Michelle B. and Roxy Jezel, my two favorite Brits. Michelle B. does indeed have an amazing body, and is really into her scenes. She has a strong presence, too, in her scenes. You don’t see a lot of her in mainstream, but if you search, you can find some very good stuff from Ms. Michelle B.

- Sarah Vandella: Hit or miss usually but when she hits, it’s usually way on target. See her turns in the Oak Crest Drive story arc at Neighbor Affair if you don’t believe me.

- Jenni Lee: One of my recent “discovers”, Jenni Lee is one of the more just downright cute girls that I’ve seen. Perhaps her biggest fault is her pale skin, but she makes up for that.

- Isabella Soprano: I haven’t caught her lately but before Brooke Banner came with her coked up performances, Isabella was my favorite “sort of a bitch” character. She’s honestly the reason why I think they started the My Sister’s Hot Friend website as she fits that stereotype to a tee.

RoJo: Ah yes, the prostitute turned pornography star. Originally appearing in the HBO series “Cathouse”, filmed during her time at the Nevada Bunny Ranch, Isabella branched out into porn and has done well for herself. She’s got a unique look and fits a niche.

- Britney Blew: Okay, I’ll admit if you go to her website, her pictures aren’t the best. But after seeing her first couple of performances (and trust me, you can tell by her naive nature), she’s a girl that I’m going to try and keep an eye on. She seems like she has some talent, and by the end of 2009, could be really good.

More Mainstream stars:

- Carmen Luvana: Absolutely love Carmen, and I’m glad she’s getting out (hopefully) by the end of the year.

- Tera Patrick: Really sexy. Evan Seinfeld is a lucky dude.

- Katie Morgan: RoJo – Katie is a freelancer who’s been in several big budget movies, as well as many standalone scenes for various websites for the past few years. She’s an AVN and HBO favorite, and no dummy. With a genius IQ, Katie followed a path similar to Jenna Jameson, in that she controls everything she does, picks and chooses, and markets herself well. She’s also a radio host and lecturer, but her work in pornography has been just as brilliant. I suggest you look for her in “Naughty Daydreams” and “Ashlynn Goes To College 2″.

So there it is. My look at the girls that do that voodoo and do it so well. There are others, but these are the eyecatchers more often than not. Yeah…I know. It’s shallow to think of women in this light. But hey, some of them are getting paid pretty good to be played into a stereotype. Now that you know we’re immature, porn hounds, I hope you’ll come back and check out my future posts here at RussnRoJo.com~!

Russ, Out.
