Mike Golic, Jr. Arrested, more…

Mike Golic, Jr., son of ESPN radio host Mike Golic (Mike & Mike In The Morning), was among 41 people arrested late Saturday night at a South Bend home for misdemeanor alcohol charges. Golic is 18 years old.

Indiana State Excise Police Sgt. Al Taylor says 20-year-old [Will] Yeatman and 18-year-old Golic were charged with being minors consuming alcohol. He says others arrested included members of the Notre Dame lacrosse and soccer teams.

Taylor says state, excise and St. Joseph County police made the arrests at a home in South Bend about 2 a.m. today. Police made the arrests after Notre Dame returned to South Bend following a 23-7 loss Saturday at Michigan State. – Associated Press

Golic, Jr. and fellow teammate Will Yeatman had been partying after a loss to Michigan State on Saturday. Mike is an incoming freshman. His journey from high school to recruitment to joining the Notre Dame team had been documented often on his father’s ESPN morning radio show.

Sophomore linebacker Dezman Moses was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with public intoxication. The 19-year-old was arrested at 2:15 a.m. at Union Bar in Iowa City. – Associated Press

Also, before the Ball State @ Indiana Hoosiers game on Saturday night in Bloomington, 78 citations were handed out to minors tailgating around the stadium for illegal consumption or possession of alcohol. Nearly 100 total citations were handed out to tailgaters prior to the game. No serious mishaps were reported for post-game activities. The game featured Ball State’s first ever football win against a BCS conference opponent.
