Can They Do It?

Posted by RoJo On September - 29 - 2008
  • I’ve been resting all day following my weekend adventure at IWA:Mid South in Chicago, and now am somehow headed right back to Chicago for White Sox baseball tomorrow. It’s game #162, and a win means a game #163 vs those rival Twins who sucked the fun all out of the Sox season in September. So the White Sox host the Tigers tomorrow for a rescheduled game that will determine whether the White Sox season is over, or they play once more for a shot at going to the playoffs. Russ N RoJo will be there live and will undoubtedly have some comments afterwards. Also, I’m hoping to do a couple of audio updates this week, and maybe some video…yayz!
  • The Cubs will end up hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday to start the NLDS. TBS will air the game starting at 6:30 Eastern/5:30 Central. I’d be all for Chip Caray doing Cubs games again, but it will have to wait as TBS has decided to send Chip Caray, along with Buck Martinez, to the Red Sox-Angels games later this week. The Brewers-Phillies series gets a mini-Braves reunion as John Smoltz and Joe Simpson get commentary duties while Brian Anderson holds play-by-play. The Cubs-Dodgers series sees Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and Tony Gwynn in the booth. (Personal note: Ugh.) The AL central winner vs Tampa Bay Rays series will get Don Orsillo and Harold Reynolds in the booth. TBS hosts all opening round MLB Playoff games this year.
  • Tomorrow we head to Chicago, then back here for our second full week of RussnRoJo.com action. Saturday is CBS Primetime Fights with EliteXC featuring Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock and more. Will have thoughts and that fight upcoming and more. Enjoy your week, kids.

  • I haven’t gone to sleep yet. Lots of things happening overnight. One, DREAM.6 happened overnight. I’ll just update now that Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic, trying to make his way back to the upper tier of heavyweight fighting after his disastrous UFC run, fought to a No Contest against Alistair Overeem. Mirko could not continue after Alistair hit repeated knee strikes to the groin, causing a Cro Cop’s right testicle to retreat into his body. It was truly painful to watch. The winner was expected to get a fight with Brock Lesnar’s favorite fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, on new year’s eve in Japan. Now, that is in doubt, as there was no winner.
  • Also, I spent most of the last few hours trying to fix the RSS feed. I’m not a web expert, so I really went into this cold, as I had no idea why the RSS feed was not working, nor do I think anyone even noticed. I never use RSS, but for those who do, I wanted to fix the issues. I believe I did so, and we should be up and running. Of course, I’m doubtful that my RSS issues are over, as I’m sure there is something I haven’t figured out. If anyone does use RSS, and sees an issue with our feed, please e-mail us or comment. Thanks!
  • I really hope the Mets close out the season strong this weekend, as I think I would love a Mets @ Cubs matchup in the NLDS. The Dodgers are scary, so bring on the Mets.
  • I’ve been listening to a lot of music lately, seems to be the theme around here. A lot of stuff I haven’t listened to in a while, actually, such as O.A.R., Beck, Pearl Jam, and early Green Day. In fact, I listened to O.A.R.’s new single ‘Shattered’ on a loop for about a half ahour overnight. Then, I switched to O.A.R.’s live album ‘Any Time Now’ for a while. O.A.R. is similar to Dave Matthews, they get comparisons often, in the fact that they are a primarily great live jam rock band and a big hit in college towns. I’ve never seen them live, nor do I have great interest, only because I don’t go to a lot of live concerts, but they seem like they’d be a good show.
  • Live radio shows are coming soon! I’m so excited for what we can do on here.
  • I’ll have a lot more blogs coming in the next few days. The site is really picking up!
  • Currently Listening: “Shattered” – OAR
Currently Watching: DREAM.6 – Saitama, Japan

    RoJo Audio: Cubs Clinch!

    Posted by RoJo On September - 21 - 2008

  • The Chicago Cubs clinched their second consecutive division championship on Saturday, securing their playoff spot. The Cubs, who will begin the National League Division Series at home likely against the Los Angeles Dodgers, currently have a 10 game lead over the Brewers. That lead is the second largest division lead in Major League Baseball this season. Only the Angels in the AL West have a more dominant lead. The Angels and the Cubs, also, are my picks to meet in the World Series this year. Should be a fun postseason, as long as Manny doesn’t dominate our pitching and send us home early. Go Cubs!
  • I posted a quick audio entry that you can find below. I’ll be expanding on much of the stuff I brought up in the coming weeks. Big October coming up! Also, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, and The Office start up their new seasons this week. Be sure to catch them!
