King of No Media

Posted by RoJo On October - 17 - 2008
  • Let’s look at my predictions I made on Wednesday for today.
  • 1) Tonight is the final Presidential debate between Barack Obama and John McCain. My prediction is that we’ll hear John McCain say “my friends”. Once? Of course not, that prediction would be too easy. I say he does it at least twice. BOOM!
    - NO! How did I get this one wrong!!?? In Wednesday night’s debate, McCain said “My friends” only once. I am ashamed.

    2) I’m going with the majority, and saying the Phillies will win tonight 7-4.
    - Well, at least I picked the winner. 4-1 final score and the Phils are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1993. The Red Sox made an amazing comeback last night to extend the ALCS, so we have Game 6 tomorrow and the Phils await the team that pulls that series out. I think no matter who the AL rep is, they are my favorite to win. I don’t see the Phillies as a strong team against an AL opponent.

    3) Thursday’s episode of The Office will be funny, awesome, and grand. Easy predictions, you say? Whatever gets the job done.
    - It wasn’t my favorite episode, but it had a great ending. The hug between Holly and Michael was due, and I was certainly happy it happened. It was one of those ‘The Office’ moments that just make scream out in jubilation.

    4) DJI average will be down 134 points on Thursday.
    - Well, wrong again. I need to stop making stock market predictions, and maybe all predictions in general. Dow finished up over 400 points, and is currently holding steady at 11am Friday.

  • Tony Womo’s Bwoken Wittle Finger
  • There’s going to be a Fedor Emelianenko reality show… It will be a mix of ‘Ultimate Fighter’ and Socialism, as sixteen fighters from around the world will convene in Russia for a shot at fighting Fedor Emelianenko on an M-1 or Affliction card sometime in 2009. First, Fedor needs to figure out when his next fight will be (scheduled for January 24), instead of always worrying about fights down the line. F’n Fedor…
  • UFC is returning to Columbus, Ohio, and the Nationwide Arena on Saturday, March 7, 2009. I hope to make the trip.

  • My UFC 89 Predictions

    Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben
    - Leben has never been knocked out by strikes. Bisping has won a large majority of his recent fights by KO/TKO with strikes. Who will budge? I think Leben catches Bisping on Saturday, and pulls out a victory before the third round even begins. Call me crazy.

    Keith Jardine vs. Brandon Vera
    - Keith Jardine lost to Houston Alexander. Houston Freakin’ Alexander, while only beating a largely done Chuck Liddell recently. Vera isn’t exactly hot, either. After two straight losses, a win over Reese Andy rehabilitated his career a bit. I’m going with Vera knocking out Jardine in the 2nd round.

Luiz Cane vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou
    Chris Lytle vs. Paul Taylor
    Shane Carwin vs. Neil Wain
    Marcus Davis vs. Paul Kelly
    Akihiro Gono vs. Dan Hardy
    David Bielkheden vs. Jess Liaudin
    Terry Etim vs. Sam Stout
    David Baron vs. Jim Miller
    Per Eklund vs. Sammy Schiavo

  • I enjoyed last night’s The Office, mostly for the hug at the end. I look forward to where How I Met Your Mother is headed, as Ted is having doubts about Stella, as is the entire group. We last saw Ted decide not to move to New Jersey, Robin is staying in the United States, and she’ll end up living with Ted at some point this year. I wonder how that will come about.
  • I’ve been listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio this morning as I write this. I do enjoy his show, even if he comes off as a snobbish thinks-he-knows-it-all. I mean, who would ever like someone like that… Because I’m obviously not the same way. Obviously.
  • Apparently this guy’s series of videos is like the biggest new thing on YouTube these days. I’m too old.
  • I watched Ultimate Fighter on Thursday night, a one night delay, after the debate went long and I missed the show. Not a real spectacular show, but some interesting things. Junie is still in. It’s ridiculous he hasn’t been kicked out, but hey, he’s here. Fight was okay, nothing special, but the setup for next week was the real story. Junie Browning is fighting next week, and will he be able to keep his drunken antics and big-mouth in the house or will he be beaten out. First step to either happens next week. As for all the practical jokes, I didn’t think they’d keep going. They did, however, and they’ve gone too far. Also, the fighters on Team Mir look so bad now. First, it was just Junie, but now, the entire team looks pretty bad. They’ve been pretty disrespectful to Antonio Nogueira, also, and that better change. Team Mir officially became heels. I thought this episode was one big commercial for how good next week’s episode has a chance of being.
