- Guns N’ Roses has a release date for Chinese Democracy! After 17 years of waiting, GnR’s new album will be sold through Best Buy beginning on Sunday, November 23.
- Russ & I will be back later this week to continue with the topic of adult entertainment, as we’ll take a look at more mainstream stars, stars of the past, trends, etc. If you missed our first entry, relating to current “reality” adult stars, you can check it out HERE.
- The World Series starts tonight. I’ll be viewing that and The Ultimate Fighter tonight. Junie Browning fights on TUF8 tonight, yayaz~! We also get more pranks, a black-belt callout, and more on the Frank Mir heel turn. Should be a good night of television. As for the Series, I predict Rays in 6, with the Phillies winning tonight. Boom. I’m horrible at predictions, though, so maybe you all should bet on the Phils to take it.

MMA Weekend Recap

- Last night’s ShoXC event in Hammond, Indiana, was not a star-studded affair, but it did have its share of theatrics. We had missing mouthpieces, fancy pants, undefeated heavyweight phenoms and more. The ninth edition of the Showtime Elite Challenger Series saw a main event first round knockout of Kerry Schall, delivered by EliteXC’s star in the making Dave “Pee Wee” Herman (Both pictured on the left; Herman in red). Herman, who is being groomed for a title bout, moved to 12-0 in convincing fashion. Because my report got deleted right as I was finishing it, I am just going to link up a page with complete results which you can find HERE. Professionalism here, obviously…
- Full card for UFC 91: Couture vs Lesnar has been issued, including the five televised bouts. This card is likely to be the most bought UFC Pay-Per-View of the year, and could possibly top one million buys. The return of Randy Couture battling upstart heavyweight Brock Lesnar is the major draw, with Ultimate Fighter 7 winner Amir Sadollah and a lightweight contender bout bringing up the undercard.
UFC 91 Televised Card
Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar (UFC Heavyweight Championship)
Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson
Nick Catone vs. Amir Sadollah
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks
Demian Maia vs. Nate Quarry

- Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations will be conducting an investigation into EliteXC’s October 4 event in which Seth Petruzelli defeated star Kimbo Slice by knockout. The investigation will center around comments Petruzelli made the day following the fight in which he intimated that he was paid more to keep the fight with Kimbo standing.

MMA Thursday Recap
Sorry for the lateness of this MMA update, folks. Things happened yesterday to delay the report, but I have it for you today!! Not much happened aside from a fun-packed edition of The Ultimate Fighter on Wednesday night. Boy, Junie Browning better go all the way, and if he did (the show up to the finals has been taped), UFC will be happy because Wednesday night’s show was the highest rated episode of the season, and of quite a while. Junie Browning’s antics are completely ridiculous, as he is a drunken fool, and the moment he gets beat could be a very satisfying moment for many. Obviously, he’s a popular contestant on this year’s season, judging by the ratings, but I wonder if he’s liked or disliked or what. If you watch the series, please leave comments on your thoughts on Junie Browning this year.
Also on the show, I was pleased with Ryan Bader’s ability to stay away from the house in-fighting for quite a while, even though he did get in a little scuffle with Browning near the pool. Bader seems to be the major star in the making on the show, along with Krzysztof Soszynski. I’m hoping those two meet in the finals, as that’s the main fight I want to see.
- The main event of Ultimate Fight Night 16 has been signed, as Josh Koscheck (11-2) will get into the Octagon against Japanese fighter and UFC rookie Yoshiyuki Yoshida (10-2). The card also features Mike “Quick” Swick, and will take place near Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
- Former WWE wrestler Bobby Lashley has joined the American Top Team, and MMA training camp based out of Florida. Prominent MMA fighters aligned with American Top Team include the two Thiagos (Silva and Alves), EliteXC Heavyweight Champion Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, Yves Edwards, and Benji Radach. - EliteXC returns to action tonight in Hammond, Indiana, and we’ll have results tonight on the site at some point. Jason Guida makes his EliteXC debut after being sent home on this season’s The Ultimate Fighter for failing to make weight. Guida did make weight for tonight, and will be fighting Mamed Khalidov. Yes…Guida is fighting the Great Khali…dov. Also on the card tonight are Muncie native Josh Barnes (0-1) and Fort Wayne native Anthony Lapsley (13-3). Lapsley will be fighting live on the Showtime portion of tonight’s card. Headlining the event is undefeated heavyweight phenom Dave Herman of Bloomington, Indiana, fighting Kerry Schall of Cincinnati, Ohio.
MMA Tuesday Recap
I think from now on, unless there is major breaking news or a live show review, the only MMA posts will be news recaps of anything that happened during the day. I’ll probably do them Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and once during the weekend on no specific day. Some of these recaps in the future will consist of audio updates, too. This is being done so that those interested can come onto the site on these days knowing they’ll get caught up in what’s been happening in the world of Mixed Martial Arts including UFC, EliteXC, Japan, and F’n Fedor news.
- Rumored for UFC Ultimate Fighter 8’s Finale on December 13 is a Lightweight fight between Clay Guida and Nate Diaz, who both were victorious on Ultimate Fight Night 15 recently. The camp of Nate Diaz denies talks have happened for this fight, however.
- Former UFC referee “Big” John McCarthy has left the Fight Network, and has hinted at a return to refereeing. McCarthy made the announcement today in his blog.
- EliteXC sent out a press release today touting their October 4 ratings, which ended up being a 2.7 for 4.56 million viewers. It was a 59% increase from their last CBS special headlined by Robbie Lawler vs Scott Smith.
- The fourth episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Mir vs Nogueira airs tonight on Spike.
- The California State Athletic Commission has set an October 22 date for the appeal hearing of EliteXC Heavyweight Champion Antonio Silva. Silva tested positive for the steroid Boldenone in July after a fight against Justin Eilers for EliteXC. EliteXC will determine whether or not to strip Silva of his championship depending on the outcome of the hearing.

After each taking the fight on only a couple hour notice, both went in not knowing what to expect. Shamrock vs Slice Off
6:42 PM EDT-
UPDATE (8:15 edt) – A crazy situation here in Sunrise, as Ken Shamrock is now out of tonight’s Main Event. Shamrock has not been cleared to fight, and has left the building. Stay tuned to tonight’s live results thread for replacement info and more.
After conferring with several sources, RnR.com can confirm that Ken Shamrock, due to an injury sustained after weigh-ins yesterday (believed to be a cut over the eye, but not disclosed), will not be fighting tonight for EliteXC against Kimbo Slice. No new opponent for Slice has been determined as of right now.
Frank Shamrock volunteered to take the fight, but was not licensed by the Florida athletic commission. Possible replacement right now is Seth Petruzelli, although that fight has not been accepted by Kimbo at this time.
